Interlude

Images

Um Hi Hi Hello There. Is anyone out there? It has been so long since I’ve seen you…

I’ve been super busy lately, surrounding myself with people I love, swamped in heaps of massive projects and scrambling to get the beginning developments of my website going. Case in point, I’ve severely neglected my blog. I’m sorry baby, but am now writing a short post to formally announce my temporary blog abandonment.

I’m aiming to have a new website up by December 1…No, not 2012…this year! Please if you know me, ask me about this lots so I don’t forget to make time in my schedule to make it happen. You know how I am…

A couple things…I will be going down to Pinhook in Durham Monday afternoon to take down my “Monsters Under My Bed” show. My friend Amy Richards will be filling in the next 2 months with her beautiful work, so please stop by and check it out.

Speaking of, Amy has organized a Holiday show at Wootini Gallery in Carrboro opening December 4th. I’ll make a post about this when the time gets a little closer, but mark your calenders, this is gunna rock! Lot’s of great local artists, including Amy and myself. Yay!!!!

So, that’s it. Until I see you again, stay happy, healthy and creative.

NC Fetish Art Festival!!!

Just two weeks ago I decided I was going to take a break from gallery shows and focus on my new website (among other things). Well, that was until I got an invite to participate in this year’s North Carolina Fetish Art Festival!

How could I possibly turn this down!? I couldn’t and am so excited to be showing something beautifully and artfully scandalous! I won’t be naked and bound, but I will be there ready to party, showing new work.

This show is gunna rock so hard, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday evening. Seriously. Check out the photo below for more information or pick up your ticket here. Proceeds will benefit The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.

This design is a double tribute to legend Ed “Big Daddy” Roth and the wicked phenomenon of Wizards painted on the side of vintage bubble window vans!!!!
This is what happens when you leave your Wizard Van unattended. Check it out…

Art Walk

Jessica Larson had her camera on hand for this weekend’s Art Walk. Here are a few from the night…

Anna made this pretty side walk sign for the evening…Love it! If you notice, there are my legs. I’m pointing this out because most of the time I was walking around without my heels on…I just happen to be wearing them here. Ha

Do you remember these ancient shirts I printed way back in 2005!? I still had a few lying around, so I put them in the show for super cheap. Oh memoriess….

Jessica got this great photo of Ethan pointing to his piece that we put in the show. I drew a Madball and he colored it. Hehe I got the name wrong and he was really upset. But, my sister bought the art and he made $20, so he was happy!!

Howdy, Y’all

I’ve been crazy busy the past few days trying to get everything together for this Friday’s Art Walk in Chapel Hill. I’m making a serious mess around myself, but I like this mess, it makes me happy.

Working with a pretty tight/last minute deadline, the fine ladies at Studio Supply have given me an excuse to get my creative groove flowing on some non-client-based projects that I’ve been putting on the back burner for some time. You guys rock!!!

I’m gunna go for some sneak peak action here ….”Howdy Y’all” is one of the pieces I plan to show.

Y_all

Acrylics, drawings and collage over an old record cover. Fun fun…

Now, the ironically hilarious thing about this piece and the real reason I am making this post, is that my son Ethan has developed a new obsession with the slang word “y’all”. He was watching TV yesterday when he randomly blurted out “Y’all leavin’ now?”. If you know my son, you know he is constantly blurting out random awesome phrases that will make you laugh so hard you cry. He is such an incredible kid, I seriously think he is the funniest person I have ever met.

Anyway, the next thing he tells me is that cowboys are people who use the word “y’all”. I figured he got it from the “Howdy Y’all” piece above, but no, surprisingly he hadn’t even looked at it. Apparently, he met a kid at the beach a couple weekends ago who really made an impression on Ethan when he said, “Y’all leavin’ now?” as we left the hotel pool. lol

So, he gives me the story of why he’s into this new word, and I am dying laughing and crying. He is so innocent, I can’t handle half of what comes out of his mouth with a straight face. That’s definitely one of my parenting flaws.

So, now that he’s got this hilarity reaction out of me and being the comedian that he is, he starts repeatedly saying as many sentences as he can using ‘y’all”.  I couldn’t breath I was laughing so hard…seriously.

It’s funny what brews inside your kid’s mind and what is it with the timing of when they decide to let these thoughts out? So weird.

Anyway, come check out my work this Friday at Studio Supply on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill 6-9!!!

Now, if you need me, I’ll be hanging out among this heaping pile of paint chips, pieces of vintage wall paper, paint, paint brushes, paintings, drawings, gloss gel mediums, pencils, ink, various collage materials, photographs, records, brightly color bubble mailers, tea and coffee cups, etc etc.
