I’ve been crazy busy the past few days trying to get everything together for this Friday’s Art Walk in Chapel Hill. I’m making a serious mess around myself, but I like this mess, it makes me happy.
Working with a pretty tight/last minute deadline, the fine ladies at Studio Supply have given me an excuse to get my creative groove flowing on some non-client-based projects that I’ve been putting on the back burner for some time. You guys rock!!!
I’m gunna go for some sneak peak action here ….”Howdy Y’all” is one of the pieces I plan to show.

Acrylics, drawings and collage over an old record cover. Fun fun…
Now, the ironically hilarious thing about this piece and the real reason I am making this post, is that my son Ethan has developed a new obsession with the slang word “y’all”. He was watching TV yesterday when he randomly blurted out “Y’all leavin’ now?”. If you know my son, you know he is constantly blurting out random awesome phrases that will make you laugh so hard you cry. He is such an incredible kid, I seriously think he is the funniest person I have ever met.
Anyway, the next thing he tells me is that cowboys are people who use the word “y’all”. I figured he got it from the “Howdy Y’all” piece above, but no, surprisingly he hadn’t even looked at it. Apparently, he met a kid at the beach a couple weekends ago who really made an impression on Ethan when he said, “Y’all leavin’ now?” as we left the hotel pool. lol
So, he gives me the story of why he’s into this new word, and I am dying laughing and crying. He is so innocent, I can’t handle half of what comes out of his mouth with a straight face. That’s definitely one of my parenting flaws.
So, now that he’s got this hilarity reaction out of me and being the comedian that he is, he starts repeatedly saying as many sentences as he can using ‘y’all”. I couldn’t breath I was laughing so hard…seriously.
It’s funny what brews inside your kid’s mind and what is it with the timing of when they decide to let these thoughts out? So weird.
Anyway, come check out my work this Friday at Studio Supply on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill 6-9!!!
Now, if you need me, I’ll be hanging out among this heaping pile of paint chips, pieces of vintage wall paper, paint, paint brushes, paintings, drawings, gloss gel mediums, pencils, ink, various collage materials, photographs, records, brightly color bubble mailers, tea and coffee cups, etc etc.
